Announcing the 2020 LoraineForLA Fellows
for high school and college students
Loraine Lundquist for LA City Council is seeking ambitious candidates for our Campaign Fellow team. The March 3rd, 2020 race is in a highly competitive, last Republican-held council district seat (District 12) in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. Dr. Lundquist is a scientist, a sustainability professor at CSUN, and a mom who has been fighting for her community and the future of her children for over a decade. Fellows will be the face of the campaign in communities across the district and will be responsible for executing our volunteer team building and voter contact programs. We’re looking to develop a team of strong, thoughtful, outside-the-box thinkers who want to work on our high-energy, growing team.
Time commitment: Part Time, 10-20 hours/week
Description
You will be expected to complete a wide range of tasks, working closely with the team to adapt your responsibilities to the campaign’s evolving needs. This includes, but is not limited to, working voter registration drives, speaking to voters through door knocking and phone banking, representing the campaign at public events, participating in field organizing, and recruiting and training volunteers. Candidates must commit to a set schedule for the Fall semester, weekends included.
Fellows will also have the option to attend workshops hosted by members of the team to learn about different aspects of the campaign, ranging from messaging and communications, to PDI training and community organizing. Highest performers will have the potential to move to a paid position. Although this is an unpaid fellowship, it is an incredible opportunity to get real campaign experience; and for those who are interested, school credit, a certification of completion, and as appropriate, letters of recommendation and references.
